Heritage Gameathon Rules

Please read and understand all rules and requirements before participating in the Heritage Gameathon. These guidelines ensure a fair, respectful, and productive event for all participants.

Original Work

All games must be created entirely during the Game Jam period. Pre-made assets may be used only if they are free or legally owned by the team.

Theme

All submissions must align with the official theme inspired by Emirati heritage and culture, announced at the start of the event.

Team Size

Teams may consist of up to 8 participants. Individual participants will be matched with others if needed.

Ownership & Usage Rights

Games created during game jam remain the intellectual property of the creators. However, Abu Dhabi Gaming and the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority reserve the full right to use, showcase, publish, modify, or distribute the games and related materials in any form for promotional, cultural, or educational purposes.

Code of Conduct

Participants are expected to maintain respectful and professional behaviour throughout the event. Any form of discrimination, harassment, or misconduct will result in disqualification.

Submission Deadline

Games must be submitted before the official deadline announced by the organizers. Late submissions will not be considered for judging.

Content Restrictions

Games containing sexual, violent, discriminatory, or culturally inappropriate content are strictly prohibited. Any game violating these guidelines will be immediately disqualified.

Judging Criteria

Entries will be evaluated based on creativity, cultural relevance, gameplay, art direction, and overall presentation.

Equipment & Tools

Participants must bring their own laptops, chargers, and necessary software. Internet access and power outlets will be provided at the venue.
